Hi there, my name is Keanna Hornoi and I am currently in my second year of elementary education in the french program. I have always dreamed about becoming a teacher ever since I was a little girl. And now that my dream is becoming a reality, I could not be more excited to see where this journey in life takes me!
In grade 12, I took a class where I had the opportunity to have hands on experience in a work place of my choice. From there, I chose to volunteer at École St. Mary in Regina, Saskatchewan where I got clarification that teaching is what I am meant to do!! I helped out at the elementary school as much as I could, from helping the teachers correct assignments, to working with students one on one with reading or subjects that they were struggling with, to teaching a class while the teacher had preparations to do. After my semester of volunteering, I was told that the students reading levels have increased more that semester than any other due to the extra practice that they were getting. That was the moment where I realized that teaching is one of the most important jobs there is. We, as teachers, help the future doctors, nurses, dentists, etc, become the people they are today.
I started this blog for a class, however, I plan to continue to write during my last couple years of University and even when I start my career. Enjoy following my journey with me, I’m excited to see what all happens 🙂
